Welcome to Plateau State College of Health Technology Zawan

History: Established in 1977 as the School of Health Technology, our institution began with a mission to train mid-level health personnel for the effective implementation of Primary Health Care Policies in rural areas. Initially located at ECWA Evangel Hospital in Jos, the college moved to its permanent site in Zawan in October 1987. Under the leadership of Dr. Hanna, an Egyptian, the college initially offered courses in Public Health, Community Health, and Medical Laboratory Sciences.
Evolution and Growth: Over the years, the college has seen remarkable growth. In 1990, under the leadership of Mrs. Hannatu Garba, new courses such as Assistant Health Record Officers and Pharmacy Technician programs were introduced, expanding the scope of education offered. Subsequent leaders, including Mr. Peter Uchu and Mrs. Mercy Kyesduhun, contributed significantly to the college’s development.
